Envisioning the Divine

  • 8:55 pm (Eastern time) - Facebook livestream begins
  • 9:00 pm - Welcome and sharing
  • 9:55 pm - Challenge of the month
  • 10:00 pm - Livestream ends

You're all invited to sing hymns with us in our upcoming "Beyond the Walls" streaming services. You don't have to be a great singer to participate. You just need a computer and a phone or two phones or possibly just your computer. Here's how it works:

  1. Download our version of the hymn or just play it on your computer or phone. You have to sing along with our piano accompaniment for your voice to sync up with us. (Do not use the church's digital library for this recording.)
  2. Use your phone or webcam to record a video of yourself singing along to our music.
  3. Email us your recording or upload it to us and we'll edit you into our chorus.

This is not like singing a solo in front of people --- eventually we hope to have dozens of faces and voices around the world singing together. Please allow the accompanist to play one time through before you start to sing.

CCS 5 - Bring Many Names

Bring many names, beautiful and good,
celebrate, in parable and story,
holiness in glory, living, loving God.
Hail and Hosanna! Bring many names!

Strong mother God, working night and day,
planning all the wonders of creation,
setting each equation, genius at play:
Hail and Hosanna, strong mother God!

Warm father God, hugging every child,
feeling all the strains of human living,
caring and forgiving till we’re reconciled:
Hail and Hosanna, warm father God!

Old, aching God, gray with endless care,
calmly piercing evil’s new disguises,
glad of good surprises, wiser than despair:
Hail and Hosanna, old, aching God!

Young, growing God, eager, on the move,
saying no to falsehood and unkindness,
crying out for justice, giving all you have:
Hail and Hosanna, young, growing God!

Great, living God, never fully known,
joyful darkness far beyond our seeing,
closer yet than breathing, everlasting home:
Hail and Hosanna, great, living God!

CCS 9 - Who is God

Who is God—young or old?
near or far? she or he?
All of these and none at all,
loving all, loving me.

God is young, God is old,
God is she, God is he,
mother’s kiss and father’s hug,
loving all, loving me.
