Welcome to our LGBTQ+ affirming, non-dogmatic, interfaith community. From our location in downtown Toronto, we reach out to members and friends who join us from around the world every week. We strive to provide a safe space for people of diverse backgrounds and philosophies of life to come together to explore existential questions, as well as to work together to promote peace, justice, and equal opportunities to everyone. Our activities include meditations, lectures, retreats, workshops, discussion groups, music production, and the Beyond the Walls online church services. Our mission is to invite everyone into community, to continually learn & grow, to abolish poverty & end needless suffering, to pursue peace everywhere, and to live life meaningfully together.

Centre Place is the home of Community of Christ Toronto Congregation, an affirming and welcoming Christian community within the Restoration tradition.

WELCOME TO CENTRE PLACE

Lectures

CENTRE PLACE LECTURES

How do you live a meaningful life? What is the self? Do you have free will or is everything determined? What is happiness? Why is there suffering in the world? Does anything have any meaning? Why do we value some things more than others? As a community, we explore these and similar questions with lectures and discussion on history, theology, philosophy, religious studies, comparative religion, neuroscience, and more. Participants share a commitment to life-long learning and a passion for exploring the ideas that philosophers and theologians have wrestled with since ancient times.

BEYOND THE WALLS

Join our global congregation online each Sunday for inclusive church “Beyond the Walls” of Toronto Centre Place. Each week our service is translated and captioned in English, French, and Spanish so that seekers and disciples around the world can participate.  As Christians, we are committed to Jesus’ example of radical inclusion: we are therefore fully LGBTQ+ affirming and we uphold the fundamental worth of all persons.

Community of Christ is non-credal, meaning that you do not have to affirm a particular set of beliefs in order to share in sacred community with us. We believe we have a special calling to share our understanding of Christ’s Mission and to interpret and uphold the Enduring Principles of the restored gospel for our own time and place in history.  We invite you join us in our efforts to improve our communities and bring about the just and peaceful heavenly commonwealth of God on earth.

JOIN BEYOND THE WALLS ONLINE EVERY SUNDAY AT 12:00 PM EDT

DIRECTIONS

Centre Place is on the ground floor of the Modern, a new mixed-use tower at the north-east corner of Richmond and Sherbourne (320 Richmond Street E. #101). We're located in the "Old Town" neighbourhood in the heart of downtown Toronto.

If you are coming by transit, the nearest Subway Station is King. Take the street car east about six blocks to Sherbourne.

For drivers coming in from the north and east, take the Don Valley Parkway to the Richmond exit heading west, the church will be on the right. Coming from the west, take the Gardiner Expressway to the Jarvis exit, taking Jarvis north to Adelaide, and then east to Sherbourne. On Sunday mornings street parking in the neighbourhood is free and relatively plentiful and we are located across the street from a Green-P city parking lot.
